By now you’ve probably figured out I get really frickin’ pumped about helping women love the way they look and feel in photos. OH MAN, there is NO better feeling than watching a woman timidly peek over my camera screen and burst into an uncontrollable fit of giggles and OMGs and “NO WAY!” and “there is NO FRIGGIN WAY THAT IS ME”.
I LOVE IT, y’all. VIOLENTLY.
Lately though, I’ve been thinking about the women that paved the path for us. The women who fought for all our rights, who defied the status quo, who pushed and pushed beyond the limits of their time. THE BADASS WOMEN of our history.
I got to thinking how us women are so intrinsically connected, on a deep, mysterious level – and not just to the women around us! WE’RE ALSO CONNECTED TO THE WOMEN BEFORE US AND THE ONES TO FOLLOW. How flipping cool is that?! *mind blown*
I knew I had do dig deeper.
So when I saw this image online, I was INSTANTLY inspired by the defiance and I-don’t-give-a-fuck-about-you-I’m-just-drinking-my-coffee-do-you-mind kind of attitude. My first thought was: “Dammit, more women should be like this – free and uninhibited, not for admiring eyes, JUST FOR THEM. Because they should frickin’ love themselves. THAT’S WHY.
I messaged my friend Teresa, who is a bloody talented photographer in her own right (and also pretty much Frida reincarnated lol) and she was INSTANTLY in. Together with one of my HMUA Linda, we were READY TO CREATE.
I’m not kidding you when I tell you the day of the shoot, I was shaking with adrenaline, sweating through my clothes with excitement and giggling incoherently. Have you ever loved something as much as this? YOU SHOULD FIND SOMETHING that makes you look AS INSANE as I did.
PS. If you make it all the way down to the bottom of this post there’s a few BTS shots for you to see how we made the magic happen!
Is there a work of art that speaks to you? Shoot it my way and maybe we’ll get to collaborate and bring it to life!

Beautiful, Irina. I am a painter of portraits. Do you allow artists to paint from your photos? I would of course give you the photo credit. My website is https://laurellecidoncha.com
I have not looked at your other images, but the ones that are Frida-inspired are the ones specifically I am referencing.
Thank you for your time.
