When I met Karen at the University of Washington, commiserating over exhausting Calculus homework, I never would have imaged she would change my life. But she did. While pursuing a degree in Sociology, she convinced me to pursue photography and was relentless in her encouragement, even going so far as to send me my very first wedding client.
Here we are, years later and I had the INCREDIBLE opportunity to photograph her marrying the love of her life, her soulmate and best friend, Courtney. And what a woman Courtney is – for as ambitions and hardworking Karen is, Courtney is all the light, love and cheerfulness a human being could possibly ask for. You’ve never met two people more in tune, than these two. And their wedding day was nothing short of fairy-tale-like. From the sweet and loving groups of friends and family making you feel like part of the family, to the sweet vows that had us all in tears to the laughter and joyfulness on the dance floor – this wedding had it all. In that moment you truly felt like you were witnessing something greater than yourself.
Karen and Courtney got married at the Bethaday Community Learning Center in Seattle, WA last year. The modern building and long hallways were complimented by rusting touches of navy, burlap and walnut. Tables were decorated with pine cones and blue bouquets and twinkle lights added to the magical feel. The brides had games, fire pits, photo booths and a candy bar as yet another attempt to show their love and appreciation. It was one of those weddings I didn’t want to end.
